Mar 2025 at Lathrop

44 players came out to for our Chess-o-Mania event on March 1st at S.A.M. Singapore Math Center in Lathrop.


We kicked it off with lessons by Emerald Hills coaches, Grandmaster Enrico Sevillano and Fred Sabobo, followed by a 3-round quad tournament with eight rated sections for experienced players and three non-rated sections for novice competitors.


We then awarded trophies to first-place finishers in each section, along with second-place finishers scoring at least two out of three points (or in the case of one 5-player group, 3 out of 4 points).

Coming Soon: Chess Classes and More Tournaments

Responding to great interest, we will begin weekly chess classes at S.A.M Singapore Math Center in Lathrop in early April. 


These will be small group (4:1 to 8:1 student:coach ratio) in-person classes divided by rating and age, allowing our expert coaches Fred and GM Enrico to provide:


We also plan to start holding regular tournaments in the Central Valley so that our students and other local players can flex their chess skills, boost their rating, win prizes and have fun!
