216 Players at Tri-Valley Sept. 19th Open
216 players competed in the Tri-Valley Sept 19th Open at Pleasanton Middle School, a co-presentation of Emerald Hills Chess, the Tri-Valley Chess League, and the Emerald Knights Chess Club, and part of our monthly tournament series.
In our 58-player Championship Quads, our first prize winners/co-winners were: Toby Tran ($180), Calvin Hou ($160), Jaison Acharya ($140), Emerald Hills coach Kadir Baki ($120), Reyansh Nuti ($100), Zachary Zheng ($100), Arnav Solan ($80), Rayan Jain and Jason Sun ($40 each), Shaurya Jijesh ($80), Emerald Hills coach Advaith Venkataraghavan ($80), Vetrivel Jagath and Dingding Chen ($40 each), Aditya Ashwin, Abhi Kumar and Ryan Banerjee ($26.67 each), Xiaoxi Sha and Marvin Guo ($40 each), Ishaan Philar ($80), and Chloe Li ($80).
Eason Zhang and Noah Toy* (Tri-Valley Homeschoolers) tied for first with perfect 4-0 scores in the 52-player Experts (U1200) section, each taking home $75.

Oliver Yu* (Sunday tourney training) and Yousuf Jamal tied for 3rd at 3.5/4.
Advaith Aravind, Anjali Guntuboyina, Shivangi Ghosh, Advik Lad, Riya Shankar and Evan Li* (Sunday) all earned Top 10 place trophies at 3-1, while Advaith Aiyer, Terence Cheng, and Riya Shankar were the top 3 U1000.
In the 52-player Premier (U800), Ekaterina Fadeeva and Anika Kalidindi tied for 1st at 4-0. Gautham Prasanna and Jacob He* (Wed tourney training) tied for 3rd at 3.5-0.5.
Eleven players tied for 5th at 3-1: Nova Xie, Vihaan Annam* (Cottonwood), Yuktaa Sundarakamalan, Aarav Nayak, Aadi Oggu, David Kurian, Dia Jadhav, Atharva Kudva* (Sunday), Arastu Abhiraam Shrivastava* (Wallis Ranch), Samrath Bhatia, and Neel Mehta* (Wednesday).
In the 29-player K12 Challenger (U400), Jenny Sun and Atharva Anand tied for first with perfect 4-0 records.
Six players tied for 3rd at 3-1: Shrey Jijesh, Dhruva Santhosh* (Donlon), Karthikeya Vandanapu, Suvanth Vasu* (Hidden Hills), Andrew Zhao and Adnan Khan. Other U200 trophy winners were Andrew Gai and Jayden Li.
In the 21-player Novices, Ishan Deepak went a perfect 5-0, followed by Aiden Zhou* (Donlon) in 2nd. Ryan Jacob, Somansh Pai* (Sunday) and Mitul Ramakrishnan tied for 3rd. Other trophy winners included Vivaan Yamsani* (Hearst), Chaitanya Kamat, Lokanath Konduru, and Sushrut Ram Vempati.
