164-Player Tri-Valley July 11th Open
164 players competed at the Tri-Valley July Open at Amador Elementary in Dublin, a co-presentation of Emerald Hills Chess, the Tri-Valley Chess League, and the Emerald Knights Chess Club, and part of our monthly tournament series.
In our 45-player Championship (1000+) Quads, National Master Aryan Achuthan repeated as first place winner, winning $200.
Other first-place finishers (winning/splitting cash prizes between $80-140) included: Alexandru Chu, Harikrishnan Pradeep, Advaith Nadiminti* (Thursday Free Chess), Hridhaan Pavle, Ethan Wang, Brayden Li, Dev Rawal, Nithilan Pandiarajan, Shenze Xia, Abhi Arun Kumar, and Arnav Solan.

Veeresh Gannavarapu and Namish Shrivastava* (Sunday tourney training) tied for first with perfect 4-0 scores in the 46-player Experts (U1200) section, each taking home $75.
Ethan Sam and Vincent Winderl* (Thursday Free Chess) tied for 3rd with undefeated 3.5-0.5 scores. There was a 6-way tie for fifth at 3-1, in tiebreak order: Tong Hsieh-Lin* (Sunday tourney training), Adhrit Goswami*, Noah Toy* (summer camp), Sai Ganne (top U1000, wins $50), Vihas Penumadu and Adrit Nudurupati*.
In the 39-player Premier (U800) section, Kanishk Mahesha* (Coyote Creek) and Avyukth Venkataraghavan tied for first with perfect 4-0 scores, followed closely by Vilomi Mehta in 3rd with 3.5-0.5.
Seven players tied for fourth at 3-1: Renesh Saravana, Rishaan Das* (Sunday tourney training), Aadvik Nadiminti* (Thursday Free Chess), Charit Appana, Arinjay Dhole, Pranav Prasanth, and Arastu Shrivastava. Top three U600 players were Karthikeya Muthumasetty, Riley Welch and Vihaan Sharma*.
In the 15-player K12 Challenger (U400), Adith Arunkumar placed first, followed by three players tied for 2nd at 3-1: Huachong Yao, Raelyn Dcunha, and Kiaan Desai. Anagha Venkata* (summer camp) rounded out the top 5.
In the 16-player non-rated Novices, Viraj Mishra placed first, followed closely by Aharwa Pugazhendhi and Aadi Oggu in second. Five players tied for 4th: Ryan Jacob, Ayansh Singh* (summer camp), Aaithrai Jayaprakash, Benjamin Cheng, and Srithik Kumar.
